Atomate recognises that all businesses, including software and technology consultancies, have a responsibility to minimise their environmental impact. As a company providing digital services, our direct environmental footprint is modest compared to industries involving manufacturing, logistics, or physical goods - but we are committed to managing that footprint responsibly and improving it over time.
1. Scope
This policy applies to all operations of Atomate, including our offices in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova, our remote and distributed team members, and the technology infrastructure we use to deliver client projects.
2. Current Practices
Atomate's day-to-day operations already reflect a low-impact model by design:
- Flexible working arrangements: Atomate offers remote and hybrid working options, and a significant portion of our team makes use of these arrangements. This reduces commuting-related emissions and limits the need for large, energy-intensive office premises.
- Cloud-based infrastructure: client projects and internal systems are hosted on cloud infrastructure provided by established providers (including Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud), rather than on company-owned physical servers, reducing direct energy consumption and hardware waste associated with maintaining on-premise data centres.
- Paperless operations: documentation, contracts, reporting, and project management are conducted digitally by default. Physical printing is minimised and used only when explicitly required (e.g. signed legal documents).
- Digital collaboration tools: we rely on video conferencing and collaborative software for client and team communication, reducing the need for business travel.
- Responsible equipment use: company hardware (laptops, peripherals) is maintained and used for its full useful life rather than replaced on a fixed cycle, reducing electronic waste.
3. Commitments Going Forward
In addition to maintaining the practices above, Atomate commits to the following over the coming years:
- Reviewing our cloud service providers periodically with consideration given to providers' own published sustainability and carbon-neutrality commitments where commercially comparable options exist.
- Encouraging digital-first delivery of all project documentation and training materials to clients, avoiding physical printing wherever feasible.
- Continuing to offer remote and hybrid working arrangements where appropriate, supporting team members in reducing commuting impact without mandating a particular working model.
- Periodically reviewing this policy (at minimum every two years) to ensure it continues to reflect Atomate's actual practices as the company grows.
4. Responsibility
Overall responsibility for this policy rests with the Administrator of Atomate. All employees and contractors are expected to act in a manner consistent with the principles set out above.
